How to Manage a Busy Schedule
It can be easy to get whisked away in day-to-day tasks and feel like it’s hard to keep up with everything. Fortunately, there are many strategies that can be utilized when it comes to time management as well as stress management!
Write It Down
It’s no secret that writing something down can help you to remember it. Whether you’re jotting down a garage code, a task or a reminder, this allows you to be more intentional with the reminder. People often find that when they write out a to-do list, they have an easier time visualizing the tasks at-hand and getting things done. Although electronic calendars and to-do lists can be efficient, physically organizing your week on a written calendar can help you to be more mindful about your planning. This can also assist you in sorting out your thoughts which leads to an organized mind.
One Thing At A Time
Making a to-do list gives you motivation and permits you to focus more on what you need to get done. However, you want to make sure you’re not overwhelming yourself with too much on your plate. If you feel like you’re taking on more than you can handle, try focusing on one thing at a time. Whether this be one phone call, one task or even one action, drawing your attention to this one thing helps you to not feel too stressed.
Prioritize
Another thing to watch out for with a busy schedule, overcommitting. If you find yourself doing this, it may be a good idea to write down your tasks in order of which is most important to which is least important. That way you can make sure you’re getting what you need to get done first. It may be tougher to do the hardest assignments first, but you will feel so much lighter afterward! Plus, you won’t find yourself wondering why you felt like you did so much today, but actually didn’t get anything important done at all. Instead, you will feel accomplished and relieved. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get everything done on that list - remind yourself that you are doing your best!
Give Yourself Breaks
When you have busy days, it’s crucial to remind yourself that you deserve to take a breather! Self love is important, and even in the midst of hectic weeks, you deserve all the love. Whether it’s going on a walk, stepping outside for fresh air, or putting on a ten minute meditation podcast, taking some time to yourself allows you to unwind and recharge. This can also help you to focus on the present moment and be more mindful. A quick break can leave you feeling refreshed, renewed, and ready to take on the day!
At the end of the day, allow yourself to be proud of what you have accomplished and where you’ve gotten yourself. Think about that saying that goes, “You’ve survived all of your hardest days so far.” Be proud of yourself, even if all you did was get out of bed. Not every day is meant to be lived in the same way. Give yourself a pat on the back and shower yourself with the love you deserve!
